A swimsuit, towel, water bottle, and any mobility aids you typically use. If you need help or accommodations, let us know! We are happy to assist.
Mobility Aids at the aquatic center include: water wheelchair, ADA chair lifts, shower chairs, and a water walker.
We also have a lot of fun toys and various flotation devices!
Do I need a referral?
In most cases, no referral is needed to begin physical therapy in Washington state. However, check with your insurance if you plan to submit for reimbursement.
Is aquatic therapy safe if I have a medical condition?
Yes, in fact, aquatic therapy is often ideal for medically complex patients. We’ll review your health history and any precautions before beginning treatment. If you want to see the precautions for aquatic therapy you can check out the general list of precautions here if you scroll about halfway down the page.
What if I (or my child) can’t swim?
No problem! The pool is shallow enough for adults to stand in. The pool also has a ramp entry to allow smaller children the chance to be in shallow water. All activities are done where you or your child feel safe and supported. No one will ever be asked to do anything beyond their comfort level.
What time should I arrive for my appointment?
Please plan to arrive at the aquatic center with plenty of time to get dressed into swimwear, use the restroom, and arrive on the pool deck ready at the start of your appointment time. Appointments begin promptly at the scheduled time, so please be ready to enter the water at that time.
To get the most out of your session, it’s important that you're suited up and prepared to begin right when your appointment starts. If you need assistance or have any accessibility needs, let us know as we're happy to help!
Is this the same as adaptive swim lessons?
No, the sessions at Current Practice PT are licensed physical therapy appointments that happen to take place in the water. While we may work on foundational water safety and confidence as part of therapy goals, we do not provide swim instruction or adaptive swim lessons.
Our focus is on using the water’s unique properties to support strength, mobility, balance, regulation, and functional movement rather than teaching swim strokes or swim survival.
If you’re looking for adaptive swim instruction, we’re happy to help connect you with local programs that specialize in that area.

Do you bill insurance?
We currently operate as a cash-pay practice, but I can provide you with a superbill (detailed receipt) to submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement. See our rates Here.
Do you take student shadowers?
Yes! We love having student shadowers. Find out more about our student shadowers program Here.
